Cheetah spots vs leopard spots
This is comparison picture of cheetah spots vs leopard spots. You can see that the cheetah spots are solid and regular in shape. In between the main spots are smaller spots and faint lines; whereas the leopard has rosettes. They are irregular in shape and the center is a different colour to the general background color. These spots could also be called donuts (American English) or doughnuts (English) as they have a center although the ring of dark fur is broken and irregular.
