American Ringtail Cat - Photo |
The American Ringtail is a rare purebred cat and a relatively new breed. It is thought that the genetic mutation that produces the curly tail occurs in one recessive gene (for the curl) and one dominant gene (for the aerial tail) . Unlike the tailless Manx, there are no associated health issues with the corkscrew tail. This is a cat of moderate proportions. The character is outgoing and friendly. American cat rescuer Susan Manley, resident in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, founded the breed in 1998. If you would like to see and read more please click here.
